End of May update!

Hey everyone!

It's been a busy month of May.

The first week was finals and my mom's studio's dance revue. It all went really well. The next week- I graduated from West Virginia University with my BFA in Theatre.

Then last Saturday, I flew to Orlando and on Sunday boarded the beautiful Disney Dream to embark on my first Disney Cruise! I'm putting together both a trip report for this blog and a vlog about the cruise that will be up within the next week. And it has to be done then because...

I AM 10 DAYS AWAY FROM BEGINNING THE CP!!!

I can't believe that next week at this time I will be on my way to WDW to begin this amazing experience. A good many of my friends are already there and have already begun working in WDW. I'm so excited to get down there and meet everyone for real!

Update!

Hey all!

Sorry I haven't updated in a while - things have been busy!

I'll start with the bad news- I did not get Character Performer. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't totally bummed. But I'm not giving up hope. I have every intention of auditioning for an extension (or for FT/PT/Seasonal if needed).

The good news is that I'm still going to Disney World! There was never a question of going, I just have to remind myself that I will be there starting in June. And yesterday I called recruiting to put in some location requests for Attractions - I requested Great Movie Ride, American Adventure, and Jungle Cruise. I really hope I get one of them.

I'm in a production of Guys and Dolls right now that has taken over my life. Hence, not too many blog posts. But hopefully I'll be getting some Pre-CP things up when the time gets closer. And watch for video posts from Guys and Dolls, graduation, and my Disney Cruise!

Update!

Hey everyone!

Sorry I've kind of been neglecting this blog. I am completely swamped with schoolwork and rehearsal for Guys & Dolls. Some days I go to class at 9am and don't leave the building until 11pm. It's awful, but hey- that's the life of a theatre major.

I'm almost on spring break- tomorrow at this time I will be! And next Tuesday is my Character Performer audition for the CP! (Send prayers and pixie dust please?) Expect to see a new blog and maybe a new vlog about that. I hope everyone is doing well!

And I'd like to send lots of prayers and pixie dust to all of my friends who are either waiting to hear anything or pending. I hope you hear good news soon!

Accepted!

Hey everyone! As you know, I was accepted to the college program! I haven't done a real blog post since then- so I thought I'd do that now.



After weeks of agonizing waiting when I thought I was going to lose my mind, and weeks of hearing "Did you hear anything yet?" more times than I ever want to again in my life- on one glorious morning I found out that I would be finally living my dream.

Here's a replay of February 9th, 2011.

It's a Wednesday. Waking up at 8am for my 9am Theatre History class with one of the most boring professors in the department... My alarm is blaring. I reach over to turn it off and do the same thing I've done the past two mornings: Knock an entire glass of water over and onto my nightstand. Ugh. I move everything and clean it up.. Go to my computer. After weeks of waiting you stop believing your email is going to come. I get on facebook and see that people got emails this morning. I think I remember seeing Lisa's post- we had just talked the night before about how tomorrow just might be the day. I look at my little tear-off princess calendar. Today is the first day without a picture- it just says "Every dreamer has her day..." Could it be? I take a breath and click the button for Yahoo. I have 3 emails. My heart starts racing. Click on my inbox. Right there- right at the top. An email from Disney College Recruiting. Oh! Not only that- but the subject says "Your Invitation". My heart is really pounding now. I click on it. And there is the most beautiful email I will ever see in my life- bright purple with green Mickey's and yellow pixie dust. What I've been praying for! I immediately start to cry as I read the words telling me that starting this summer I will be living in Florida and working for Disney. I call my mom and wake her up- then call my grandma as my mom calls my Dad. Mass text messages are sent to both classmates and D-fam alike. The waiting is over. My dreams are coming true.


So that was that morning. That was the first theatre history class I think I was actually awake for. haha And that day continued to get better - I found out later that Kryssy got accepted, too. We wanted to room together, but couldn't make it official until we both found out- then we knew it was a sure thing! I cannot describe in words how elated I was that day. I told anybody I saw that I got it and even interrupted a faculty meeting to let all of my professors know. :) (They told me that it was a good reason to interrupt lol) That very day I accepted and paid the program fee. I will be checking in at Vista Way on June 6th, 2011.

I had plans to drive part of the way and then take the AutoTrain to Florida, but my car is very, very little and I had no clue how I was going to get anything down there. So now my dad is driving our giant SUV and towing my car so I can take everything I need with me. That should be fun- Get to see a little bit more of the country on my way down. The last time I drove to Disney was my senior trip on a charter bus- that wasn't fun at all. I need to save some good memories of driving there lol

So far, almost all of my D-fam has been accepted. A few are pending- I am praying they hear back soon and that the response is a positive one. A couple are still waiting due to later applications- so I hope they hear back soon, too.

I cannot wait to get down there. I just know that it is going to be one of the greatest experiences of my life with some of the greatest people I have (virtually) met. :) But I still have a lot in between now and then- School, Guys & Dolls, Graduation, Senior Showcase in NYC, and a Disney cruise all take place before June 6th. It's going to be an amazing year!

The Countdown Begins!

I officially accepted my invitation! My Check in date is June 6th, 2011. I'm so excited and can't stop being absolutely blissfully happy about it. Every time I think about the fact that I am finally going to be a Disney Cast Member I get emotional. YAY!

Well.... I'm still waiting!

It's only been 2 weeks since my phone interview, but I'm really antsy. I feel really tired all the time and I'm starting to get cranky with my friends. I'm a little snippy when they ask if I've heard back. A friend asked about auditions- I kind of mumbled my answers. I'm to the point where I don't want to talk about it. When I hear back, then I'll be okay.

I haven't given up hope yet- I am just really tired of waiting.

I'm really excited for everyone who has been accepted so far. Especially my close friends and D-fam! I hope I can be accepted soon so we all know that we'll be together! And for all my other friends who haven't gotten anything yet either- I'm sending lots of prayers and pixie dust that we all get them soon!

When I do get the email- there will be lots of posts and a vlog. So look out for those!

Here's the truth...

I'm scared to death that I didn't sound passionate enough and didn't say the right things in my interview. When she asked me why I want to work for Disney, I left out the biggest reason. I don't know how, I just know that I remembered it as she was asking me the next question. I am so mad at myself for doing that. It was something that would have sounded really great.
I'm also mad at myself for another thing. She asked me about theater experience and she asked me what the longest piece of text I ever memorized was. I said "A Shakespeare piece that I did recently. It was 2-3 minutes long and I memorized it in a week." That was so stupid. I know I've memorized things longer than that and I've memorized things quicker than that. GAAAHHH.

Why do I panic in situations like this?! Because when I do, I forget important things... I mean... I believe the rest of my interview went well, I'm just dwelling on the negatives. And I needed to air my frustrations somewhere- and what else are blogs for? So that's that. It's over. It's done with. I can't change it. Now I just have to wait.

Prayers, fingers crossed, and pixie dust that those things were just bad to me, not my interviewer...

Tagged Again!

I got tagged by Brett in the "embarassing moment" tag game. I don't know who came up with this one, but you're just loving seeing all of our worst moments aren't you? lol

Okay- so in 7th or 8th grade we were doing a play at school. And I was picked with a girl and two guys to be the "performers" in this traveling troupe in the play. One day in music class, all the other members of the class were in learning music while we were out trying to figure out what our performance number should be. I started doing some things and had this bright idea to do a split and show everyone how great my split was. Well, I was wearing jeans that were made of a really thin denim- they weren't that strong. My jeans ripped completely up and down the seam up my butt. The awful thing was- this was in the time before long shirts- everything hit right at the top of your pants. I had to send one of the other kids into the music room to get my jacket (thankfully I had one!) to tie around my waist..

So it's not too awful- but at the time, it was horrible!!

I'm tagging Marion and Kryssy! However, they're both off on fantastic adventures, so we may have to wait on their embarrassing moments!

Past Favorite - The Living Seas
This used to be my favorite pavilion in all of Epcot before they put all the Nemo crap all over it. Don't get me wrong- I like Nemo, I just didn't like when they changed my favorite thing.


Current Favorite - Am I allowed to say the whole Land Pavilion?
I LOVE Soarin' and I LOVE Living with the Land- both for different reasons. And I know the restaurants don't count in this, but I love both Sunshine Seasons and the Garden Grille. I just love the whole thing!

Splash Mountain

I was very tempted to say Big Thunder Mountain, but considering I only like riding it at night (it's scarier) and you only get a good ride in the back cars (on most drops the front cars are down the drops before you're actually released) - I'm going to go with Splash. Ask me about the time they put me and 2 other adults into one row. Good times.
